It’s Steam Next Fest week; welcome to it! There are lists of recommendations aplenty, which is good because the event is bursting at the seams with all the demos vying for players’ attention. It’s awesome to see that even the indies are getting love from curated suggestions. I won’t be including the bigger ones below because y’all know the highlights. Below you’ll find a guide to the indie games you shouldn’t, but could very easily, miss.

The Remake of the End of the Greatest RPG of All Time
“The Remake of the End of the Greatest RPG of All Time” (TRotEotGRPGoAT for short) is the last hour of a lost (nonexistent) JRPG, “remade” with director’s commentary, the digital manual, and archival footage. It’s a deduction puzzle game made from a JRPG that holds a dark secret.

LOVE ETERNAL
Wander a castle built of bitter memories in LOVE ETERNAL, a psychological horror platformer with devious trials and an unsettling, experimental narrative. Find a way out – or live in Shelter forever more.

Slots & Daggers
After my last game SUMMERHOUSE, I wanted to make something radically different. Still small, but faster, with numbers, fights and goblins!
The result is SLOTS & DAGGERS, a strange little blend of slot machine and fantasy RPG.
To make this game I combined a lot of things I deeply love – weird fantasy worlds, crude drawings of strange little guys, old school crunchy hiphop drum machines and addictive arcade games that go “PLING PLING PLING” as they spit out little coins – with classic roguelike mechanics.

Regions of Ruin: Runegate
Embark on an explorative RPG hack-and-slash adventure where you attempt to re-establish a haven for the lost dwarven civilization. Journey across varied lands, help those in need, gather resources and fight off goblins and monsters as you slowly rebuild a home for your people.

Dead Pets Unleashed
Gordy and her punk band, Dead Pets haven’t hit it big but they will any day now! Go to band practice, crush a diner shift, chat with friends and manage Gordy’s mess of a life. Unleash your inner demon in a feminist, slice-of-life, management-lite, minigame-heavy narrative rhythm game!

Hermit and Pig
Hermit and Pig is a story-rich, turn-based RPG where you fend off wild assailants, forage mushrooms, survive social anxiety, and stumble into a corporate conspiracy with your trusty pig.

The Legend of Khiimori
Take on the role of a brave courier rider in The Legend of Khiimori! Bond with your horse and tame the open wilds of 13th century Mongolia. Breed and train horses with specialized abilities to explore every aspect of this diverse and fascinating landscape.

TetherGeist
A challenging and heartfelt precision-platformer. Use powers of Astral Projection to complete a dangerous coming-of-age pilgrimage. Master tight controls, overcome challenges, and let your spirit guide you to the journey’s end.

Broomstick Exorcist
Play as Vikka, a street sweeper who hunts demons at night while keeping the street clean. Devour the darkness in a night filled with demons in this unique 2D, hand-drawn, Manga-inspired beat ’em-up horror adventure.

Tears of Metal
Tears of Metal is a medieval hack-and-slash co-op roguelike. Carve through hordes of enemies to reclaim your island with the help of your formidable Scottish battalion. As you advance deeper into the trenches, uncover more about the mysterious Dragon Meteor and the treacherous enemy invasion.
