Stardew Valley Update 1.6 Adds New Content And Eight-Person Multiplayer On PC

As we inch closer to October, our minds fill with thoughts of candy and spooky things, which leads to speculating when we’ll see any morsel of information on Haunted Chocolatier. It’s a slippery slope we all slide down. While there’s nothing new to report on the newest game from ConcernedApe, there is plenty to look forward to in their hit game, Stardew Valley, in a major upcoming patch.

Stardew Valley last had a meaningful content update nearly three years ago. Since December 2020, ConcernedApe has peppered in various bug fixes and quality-of-life changes. With the upcoming 1.6 update, Stardew Valley residents will get a sizable number of new activities, including expanded multiplayer support for PC players.

Here’s what ConcernedApe is currently outlining for the upcoming patch:

  • A new major festival
  • Two new mini festivals
  • New late-game content, which expands on each of the skill areas
  • New items and crafting recipes
  • Joja alternatives to some of the end-game quests
  • 100+ new lines of dialogue
  • Winter outfits for the villagers
  • New type of reward for completing billboard requests
  • (PC) Support for 8 player multiplayer
  • Many small additions and adjustments
  • New farm type
  • New secrets & more

No date has yet been set for Stardew Valley’s next content drop. However, according to ConcernedApe’s post on Steam, the update, “the content is pretty close to being finished.” Still, it will require testing and more before it’s fully ready to be played by the general public. In the meantime, get seven of your friends in a group chat to plan multiplayer goals for when the update eventually releases.
