Leading up to the summer’s abundance of announcements, events, and world premieres, Humble Games set a high bar for indie showcases. Today’s show spotlighted eight great games, including an unexpected follow-up, anticipated favorites, and fresh reveals. You can watch the entire show here but who can resist a good cheat sheet? I’ve collected every title shown in Humble Games’ presentation below so you can peruse them at your leisure:
#Blud
Don’t be fooled by the fantastic Saturday-morning-cartoons art style, #Blud (pronounced hashtag blood) is not a kid-friendly adventure. Players will take up the stresses of high school and vampire slaying in Exit 73 Studios’ dungeon crawler set to release next year.
Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus
It’s not the first time I’ve crossed paths with the mind-blowingly gorgeous title but I was thrilled to see its mix of ink painting-inspired aesthetics and Metroidvania platforming in Humble Games’ showcase. The publishing announcement will hopefully mean the game’s creators will be able to fully realize their dazzling vision when the game hits in 2024.
Lost Skies
The developer behind Surgeon Simulator and I Am Bread, Bossa Games, is jumping into something entirely new and the team gave players a first look today. Lost Skies is a survival adventure game you’ll be able to play with up to five friends. Taking place in a post-apocalyptic world of airships and skydiving, the intriguing multiplayer is set to release next year. However, the team states it will employ an early access-like process they call “open development” later this year which will involve community input. So, stay tuned!
Wizard of Legend 2
The 2018 indie from Contingent99 is getting a sequel, though it’s being made by a whole new team. Dead Mage Games, known for titles like Children of Morta and Shadow Blade, is taking the helm for Wizard of Legend 2, with the original developers acting as consultants. That’s not the only change, the game is shifting the pixel graphics to a more 3D look and introducing 4-player online co-op.
Breeze in the Clouds
I love everything about this game. The gusty corgi protagonist. The sunny art. The weather-based powers. All of it. Our hero, Breeze, is a pup on a mission as he sets off to fight pollution in this 2D, brawler-inspired action adventure. There’s no release date for the game yet, but I’ll be watching for it!
Cataclismo
Just take a moment and look at this game, y’all. This showcase has been stuffed with eye candy but this stands out even still. Add to that the fact Cataclismo is coming from the developers behind Moonlighter and consider my interest piqued, even if tower building/defense isn’t my usual go-to genre. The game is in early development so, hopefully, there’s plenty more news to come.
Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical
Humble Games doesn’t want players to forget it’s playing the upcoming Stray Gods. Its hand-drawn visuals are undeniably pleasing to the eye and lyrically-focused action is sure to get stuck in your head. Today’s trailer focused on the game’s star-studded cast — including Laura Bailey, Troy Baker, Felicia Day, and Rahul Kohli to name a few — who mostly explain how unique they believe the experience will be.
Supraland: Six Inches Under
Who doesn’t like a good shadow drop? Supraland: Six Inches Under is now available on PlayStation and Xbox (via Game Pass). Originally released on PC last year, console players will get the chance to jump into the title described by the team as “a mix between Portal, Zelda, and Metroid.”
