Maybe I’m a sucker, but honestly, I love hearing “and it’s out now” after a game presentation. Like a placebo that still works even if you know it’s just sugar, I always get excited hearing it. Nintendo treated me to this gaming sugar rush not once, but three times during its Indie Highlights show today. Bless them. Here are the indies you can play this very moment on the Nintendo Switch.

Unruly Heroes – Magic Design Studios
Unruly Heroes jumped out of the presentation for me with its painterly and vivid beautiful design. A rapid series of four monotone montages introduced the four leading heroes then lead directly into some fast-paced gameplay which showed them desperately navigating an obstacle course straight out of Mad Max. Not afraid to display the rich detail of the environments, the trailer follows our heroes’ travels through lush jungles, gushing waterfalls, and treacherous cliffs. Be it harsh and dark or fanciful and vivid, each stage is teeming with challenges or enemies.

When Ski Lifts Go Wrong – Hugecalf Studios
When Ski Lifts Go Wrong is a physics-based construction puzzler. That’s easy to understand, right? If not, your job is to solve a series of puzzles by building a structure. The game also has a healthy dose of lighthearted dark humor best seen in the trailer when the one of the skiers – who put his life in your hands – launches into the side of a mountain with a satisfying splat. It looks like fans of Poly Bridge or World of Goo can scratch that engineering itch with When Ski Lifts Go Wrong.

Goat Simulator: The GOATY – Coffee Stains Studios
I’m not too proud to admit that it took me a while to understand GOATY was a play on GOTY (Game of the Year), and, when I did get it, I laughed way too hard. But that basically sums up the game: laughing way too hard at something kind of dumb. Though, everything is funnier with a goat shoved into it. Goat Simulator: The GOATY edition takes that concept and runs wild with it, including all the currently released DLC. Want to see Star Wars inspired goat action? They’ve got that in Goat Simulator: Waste of Space. Always wanted Skyrim with more goats? Goat MMO Simulator’s got you covered. Whether you’re manufacturing fear in GoatZ or money in Goat Simulator Payday, you can shove a goat wherever you want with Goat Simulator: The GOATY.
If you haven’t run away from the screen to play these on your Switch yet, watch the entire Indie Highlights presentation below and learn more about the games you have to wait to play.
